portmap is running fine. I just tried - for the fun of it - to do killall -9
portmap and start it up again. It starts without any problems, but the
mountd and nfs are still a pain.

What does rpcinfo -p [hostname] show?

I noticed you are not allowing localhost to talk to itself w/ portmapper..im
not sure if that would matter here though. What is the output of rpcinfo
tho? That will give you some good information.
