The hardware change has been the motherboard, RAM and sound (using onboard audio). (Mouse doesn't work either, the PS/2 port was damaged. have to get it replaced). Sound works fine (device pcm). I haven't recompiled the kernel. Don't see any point in doing so. Is there any specific options that is required for the A7V333 ? Anyway, I'll try out Scott's solution in i686_mem.c.
