amr(4) and ami(1) have management via the kernel; but it can be ugly. With Dell we have no choice; they don't map LSI/AMI RAID data into the DRAC/IPMI BMC. With Sun, you *should* be able to accomplish a lot of this via the LOM/ILOM card via Ethernet.
