Actually, it causes them to ask embarrasing questions, like "why does
it cost more outside the US", to which there are no good answers.  So
it's easier to dodge the questions.  8-).

Back when I was involved in the running of a small ($2M-$3M/year)
software company, we had a continual "problem" of companies in the
UK buying directly from distributors in the US after their quantity
price break and selling directly in the UK (bypassing our signed
distributors).
