The problem you are experiencing was fixed just after 2.1.7 was released. I would suggest upgrading to the driver that is in FreeBSD-stable and in fact tracking the -stable kernel as new changes to the driver are introduced. To get 90% of the effect of those changes, find the routine ahc_run_waiting_queue in the file sys/i386/scsi/aic7xxx.c and remove the if statements before the calls to "pause_sequencer" and "unpause_sequencer". You can also remove the comment above the pause_sequencer call that mentions "Auto Access Pause", since it is not reliable and is no longer used. -- Justin T.
