I remember that the first of these was in acpica files and gcc claimed that ObjDesc or a variable with a similar name might have been used without initialization. I tried to fix them manually first but I a lot more appeared later and I considered it better to just disable -Werror. During buildworld there were similar things in libthr and I did the same.
