First of all, don't run routed unles you _really_ need it.  Routed has
this habit of mucking up the works.

Secondly, make sure your YES's are in caps, ie

gateway_enable="YES"

Third, what does 'ifconfig -a' and 'netstat -rn' look like after you've
shut off routed and rebooted?
