Oddly enough I was having very strange problems with a WD hard-disk
recently bought..I think I sent a question about this..anyway I ran the
HD diagnostics, and for certainty reformatted the whole disk with the WD
facility.
No problems since.
My problems were not shown up by fsck, but by bizarre and differing
ideas 4.7 and Linux had about the hard disk partitioning.

Mmm..this was tied in with several other odd problems, some of the pilot
error, and some due to an apparent inability of a FreeBSD slice to live
physically next to a DOS extended partition. I have repeatedly asked
about this .. but I have never received an answer from anyone. So I just
assume it must be true.
