Try this:
  cd /usr/ports/security/php4-mhash && make install
and don't forget to make sure you have something like
  extension_dir = "/usr/local/lib/php/20020429/"
in your /usr/local/etc/php.ini (must point to the directory where your 
mhash.so is located)
