You should add a line like: hosts allow = 171.68.118.0/255.255.255.0 161.44.20.0/255.255.255.0 161.44.105.160/255.255.255.248 10.29.0.0/255.255.0.0 To your global smb.conf section to specify which hosts are allowed to connect. Also, the log files in /var/log are good for troubleshooting this problem (i.e. log.smb and log.nmb).
