Hi, The problem was the VJ compression. The site where I was connecting seems to support the VJ compression but for an unknown reason there was a buffering problem (probably due to a conflict between the modem compression scheme and the VJ one). After disabling the compression for the ppp driver everything worked like a charm. Thanks for all the responses.
