How about a dedicated box, such as a Pairgain?  That's what we use here at
the UO for some of the outlying areas.  Saves the cost of sticking a
computer / router at the location.  The Pairgain has a Ethernet port out
that you plug into your hub or other equipment.  

Probably faster than an NT box too.
