We never discussed the merits of having *a* FAQ, simply the merits of
keeping our *current* FAQ.  I agree fully with John that a FAQ is a
useful resource for answering topical questions but, as John also
pointed, an unmaintained FAQ is nothing better than a home for
outdated [mis]information and not very useful.

Until we find a FAQ maintainer who truly takes it seriously, as none
of our last few FAQ maintainers have done, we need to kill it.  Once
we can find a motivated FAQ coordinator who truly understands what the
FAQ's all about and has time to do it justice, we can bring it back.
