Huhu Greg ... what Du you say now ?! ;-)) Well, as you know, we went through this in some detail yesterday. Of course, I didn't think to change my umask (in fact, I was paying more attention to the change of user and group that you had led me to expect). In any case, you're right: if you have a non-0 umask (which I don't), it will be applied to all the permissions unless you supply the -p option. Thanks for fighting this one through. Greg
