Sorry to report, but late yesterday afternoon I was composing a mail message with pine and watching fxtv at the same time (small window), and with Amancio's mods, and everything just froze, resulting in more filesystem damage, so at least to me things seem better, but not a lot more. It appears that if I am going to watch tv, I have to kill the internet connection and all programs that could possibly write to disk and then dedicate to watching tv. Well at least till we find the problem (or I can upgrade to a dual Pentium box). In the meantime, I have gone back to XFree 3.2, in an effort to see if maybe the version 3.2A X server is causing the problems (it's beta after all). Bernie
