Check your syslog. Assuming sendmail is logging enough info, it should
probably tell you what'd going on. Two common problems with setting
up vacation: incorrect permission/ownership on the .forward and the
fact that vacation uses 'real' UID instead of effective UID to generate
the forwards. So if you're setting up a vacation for user blarg and
su to root and then to blarg, vacation will write the .forward to
send the mail to your UID, not blarg's.
