When I was looking for a switch, I focused on those that claimed to support booting. If the system panicked, I wanted it to boot even if the switch was on the Win98se system that shares the switch. They also had to support extended resolutions greater than 1024x768. I ended up with a Linksys 4 port. I lost the 3 button mouse and have to emulate the third button. The FreeBSD system has never panicked but has been taken down for a severe electrical storm that went through the area. I brought each machine up with the switch on the system booting. I have been curious if the system will come up messed up like I expect it to when the switch is on the other system but I have not been curious enough to try it :). Windows looses the mouse occasionally but I switch away and back and it is ok. FreeBSD has never had a mouse problem and the monitor is left runing X much of the time.
