I am attempting to replace the my company's ftp server with a FreeBSD box and hopefully that will open the door for more work being put over to this OS, but that is another discussion. I changed dhclient not to go into a daemon and just exit after setting up the interface and am excuting it from a cron job every 24 hours. The NT server gives out 72hour leases. Is there some other "gotcha" by doing this?? I realize that the IP will never clear itself if the cron job does not run but other than that will I have another problem?? Perhaps there should be a switch for this?? I don't like it either but it is a fact of life that we will have to use DHCP under Windoze at least in the begining... Also any reason why bpf is not in the generic kernal so a machine can get a DHCP IP "out of the box"?? > "One should admire Windows users.
