I If there that important, ever thought of a serial-console setup? (i.e. out-of-band management?) We use this here to great effect... So long as you pick a modem wisely, they quite often have a lot of security features built in, for verifying the caller before letting them get at your serial console (e.g. caller-id, callback etc.) When it fails in the future you could just dial it up, and fix it from afar...
