Apsfilter messed up a few things during the setup process. However, this required just a little "housekeeping" work ;-) I specified /var/spool/output/lpd as my spool directory, which is NOT apsfilter default (/var/spool/lpd), and I noticed something wrong. Apsfilter operated as if I had specified /var/spool/lpd. I checked /etc/printcap: it contained references to /var/spool/lpd; moreover, the apsfilter stuff had also been put in /var/spool/lpd ... and you can guess the trivial workaround: all the references in /etc/printcap must be coherent with apsfilter stuff. E.g. if you also chose /var/spool/output/lpd, then make sure that the references in /etc/printcap correctly point at /var/spool/output/lpd, and move all the stuff in /var/spool/lpd to /var/spool/output/lpd. The uniprint driver is more recent than the stcolor. Please have a look at it: it might work better. If things have not significantly changed in the meanwhile, this information might be relevant.
