I tested this extensively under 3.x since that is where I got the
reports from.

I hope to do some testing this weekend, need my new ATX PSU first.

Aye.

Agreed.  Another necessary dependency in the Makefile ouvre which we
solve by this.  It makes perfect sense to me in every way.  Thanks for
steering me onto this solution. =)
