We have determined that it is possible on NetBSD, but the underscore problem bites big, so the libraries have to be pretty much self-contained, or only refer to symbols in other libraries with the same format - which means it is impractical. What would be cool is a convertor, that changes libraries from one format to the other, and tweaks the underscores in the process.
