Thanks all for your help. All the help I received was great. The final problem was that my NIC was not supported and thus reported a MAC of ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. To add to the confusion, the card came with and install disk that included a FreeBSD folder and two source files for the FreeBSD 3.4 (my version). I did a diff on the files in my kernel and found they were the same, so I thought it would work. Wrong! I had a LinkSys NC100. The LinkSys LNE100TC was supported. My first question from now on is: Show me where your hardware is listed in the hardware compatibility list. I fixed the problem by getting a 3Com 3CSOHO100-TX. (If I got that card first, it would have saved me a couple of days and some hair!) Thanks again. ==================================================== Jim Freeze jim@freeze.org --------------------------------------------------- ** http://www.freeze.org ** ==================================================== To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
