Short, quick answer:
You need to build a NEWCARD kernel for CardBus support in
current. Read the documentation on NEWCARD. It is very different.

For a longer answer, you will need to hear from someone else as I am
not running current right now and it changes quickly enough that any
details I provide would be inaccurate.

Be sure that you have read the Handbook, Chapter 19 on "The Cutting
Edge".
