What does 'pciconf -l' show? (That last one needs to be done as root.) Unfortunately, I can't really suggest anything except upgrading to 4.1. There isn't much chance of this being fixed in RELENG_3 anyway, there have been significant improvements to the sound code in RELENG_4 onwards.
