It was extensively tested.  *Many* have been running with
tcp_extensions=yes on their boxes for years.  Changing the setting has
been bikesheded many times, with no one comming up with any real
interopterability problems.

You should have seen the commit to the rc.conf file before this one :-)
(or maybe you're sorting commit messages in desending order, in which
case the commit the rc.conf file should be just a few messages lower).
