i started reading it at freebsd v2.1.5-release, i just checked
2.0.5 and 2.1 to kmake sure it was not in either.

for me recent is v2.2.5 .. while i do have v3.0 i had no
ntention of using this set, it was purchased fro teh sake of
completeness, given its shortcomings and teh advice of jordan.

as an example, a freind came over on teh weekend and we did tea
and a small bit about freebsd and 'teh complete freebsd', he
mentioned how he was having a problem setting up his dns. this
is were i should have been a lot more circumspect, i said 'just
look up teh relevent bit in tcfbsd and follow it step by step
and it will work flawlessly. some of you who have freebsd
v3.1-release and 'teh complete freebsd ed2' will have spoted
teh oops already ... the two are completely different, yes it
is possible to get teh old version of named to run in 3.1, well
i think it is.

so, yes i'm aware that teh guide and teh recent version of
freebsd might be out of sync .. as all things grow when one is
static and teh other a growing living object.

i wasn't as aware of these changes, i still run v2.2.5-release,
so for me teh booklet is still current .. grin.

but, i can see teh probelms it would pose to those who are
using a more recent version of freebsd.

as far as i know, its a jkh effort ... also being a document
mangler myself i found teh best way to repair someting, as
small as teh booklet we are discussing is to type it in
verbatum (after getting permission from teh owner, copyright
holder). this way you will have read it more closely than just
grazing parts to get out of a jam.

once you understand what is written, it is much easier to
upgrade teh relevant sections without destroying teh item as a
whole, style of writing and language usage et al.

it is not easy to take a well written document and 'fix bits'
by another person .. in this case it would be far better to
rewrite teh document as a whole ..ergo the discussion of teh
need fro a new, or as i questioned in this post originally, another
installation guide.

regards

jonathan
