Ah ha ! Had to be QEMU!  I was testing this over and over with Steve
Wills and he had a slightly previous version of QEMU on his FreeBSD 14.0
CURRENT system. I had the very latest ( okay five days ago ) and saw the
panic over and over. For him, everything was working fine. What fun that
was to try to explain.
