It took me 4 or 5 tries where Poudriere crashed (out of swap, until I disabled tmpfs for electron, out of space when electron sources took 20+ GB) but I finally have electron29 and signal-desktop built and installed in my KDE Plasma desktop. Build took 10 hours on 4 cores (about 40 hours on single core build) Really terrible experience just for an instant messenger. But thanks to all involved to maintaining these ports!
