The libalias problem has been resolved with the latest version (and 
that stuff is now in RELENG_2_2 for the upcoming 2.2.6 release).

There were problems around then with the file descriptors for 
accessing things.  It may be worth making sure the latest version 
behaves like this before proceeding.
