Well yep, thats how things are done in FreeBSD vs. Linux. And to set stuff
like CLASSPATH, just another sysctl call. 

Note we aren't incoporating the *INTERPRETER* into the kernel, just the
support to RUN the interpreter whenever a java image is executed.

Again, I'll look at the linux source for it tonight.
