Hi, Just a couple of little things I'd like to figure out as I am learning FreeBSD. 1. When booting I get the following: Recovering Syscons: blank_line Functionality: not found I'm assuming this has to do with the console, but what exactly what the above is I am not sure. 2. Everything gets output to the screen. When I ssh into FreeBSD and do something like an su root, the output displays on the screen. If I do an nmap or ping from an ssh session, I get the messages output to the monitor. How can I stop this, or have it redirected to a file. 3. Firewall rules appear when booting. How do I stop this, or have then redirected to a file. If possible. 4. Final. In Linux I can hold the shift key and page up to see what has scrolled off the screen. Is there something similar in FreeBSD? NOTE to those that reply. Could you send your answers directly to beauford@iname.com as messages sent to the list and then relayed to me will bounce. My ISP's screwed up idea of a spam filter. Hopefully corrected soon. Thanks To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
