This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0003_01C3161C.9EADEE00 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Does anyone know how to start up Mozilla in the KDE Window manager on FreeBSD 4.8? I installed Mozilla by making use of the ports as installed during the FreeBSD 4.8 installation routine: /usr/ports/www/mozilla/make install The installation seems to have been completed succesfully (see 'installation for mozilla-1.2.1_1.log.txt), but when I try to start Mozilla by clicking or double clicking NOTHING happens, not even an error logging. And when I try to start Mozilla from an xterm (KDE Konsole) with one of the following shell scripts /usr/ports/www/mozilla/work/mozilla/mozilla /usr/X11R6/bin/mozilla /usr/X11R6/bin/mozilla I get the message 'no running window found' and the shell prompt returns. Any suggestions? Eddy. -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Eddy Ramos [mailto:e.ramos@deepground.com] Verzonden: dinsdag 6 mei 2003 15:56 Aan: 'freebsd-questions@freebsd.org' Onderwerp: XWindows on the run Sorry to say so, I am a bit disappointed with my fresh installation of FreeBSD Release 4.8 with X-Windows (KDE 3.1), because 'startx' simply won't work. Here's what is says during startup: Fatal server error: xf86EnableIO: Failed to open /dev/io for extended I/O X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). xauth: creating a new authority file /root/.Xauthority xauth: (argv):1: bad disply name ":0" in "remove" command xauth: (argv):1: bad disply name ":0" in "remove" command # Actually, I haven't done anything in particular but running the installation CD-Rom. Any suggestions how to get XWindows start?
