Ok, trying to setup my XFree86-4 via the manual, but the manual doesn't seem correct ??? first I do this as root cd /usr/port/x11/XFree86-4 make make install make clean Then as the Manual says Configuration of XFree86 4.X is a several step process. The first step is to build an initial configuration file with the configure option to XFree86. As the super user, simply run: # XFree86 -configure But when I try to run XFree86 -configure, it can't find it. I have done find searches and even updated my Locate Database but this file just doesn't exist. I tried looking through the man XFree86 and it says there are a couple of config files but I can't find these either. I am only assume that these config files are created during the configuration phase.... I just need to figure out how to get the configuration phase started. The manual also says XFree86 4 can be installed using the FreeBSD ports system or using pkg_add(1). So I am using the /stand/sysinstall to install XFree86-4.1.0_6 to see if maybe that installs files that the ports didn't... doubt it, though.
