-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I just started experimenting with both, flexbackup : Free BRU: : Costs money My criteria is: 1: must span multiple tapes 2: must work with a Tape Library 3: must have comand line interface for automation of backups 4: must be able keep database both on tape and on disk of tape/volume contents. 5: must automaticly verify data written to tape 6: must be easy to extract a single file from archive Initial thoughts/experiances flexbackup; works well in a single server/tape environment. According to the docs does not support spanning tapes at this time. By default only keeps a database on disk but is written in perl so should be able to be modified with a fair amount of ease. I Have not gotten it to work with my tape Library yet. BRU; Better documentation then flexbackup Automaticaly does verification of data Works with my tape Library have not verified spanning tapes yet keeps log/datase on disk, and with minor modification of script will put toc on tape emails success/failure at completion I am still experimenting but am leaning toward BRU. /Jeff On Thu, 08 Jun 2000, Klaus Herrmann wrote: > On Wed, 07 Jun 2000 20:27:48 -0400, Michael Joyner said: > > > Have you looked at the freebsd mall on cdrom.com ? > > > > I think there is a backup solution there. > > i see, BRU. has anyone tried this? how are your experiances with it? it > isn't really cheap, so i'd like to hear if it's good or not :-) > > bye, > Klaus > > -- > Klaus Herrmann > Goelz & Schwarz GmbH > Waltherstr. 29 > 80337 Muenchen > klaus.herrmann@goelz.com > > > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 6.5.2 iQA/AwUBOT/yd2/lZxVxa51TEQIt3wCfZ1VBGzBY/EjEfhOgFN9voim1QQYAoLGJ HLanYwkveyus8ERM+Z6AZ0R+ =SFl/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
