This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01BFA037.FE1E3060 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi I'm trying to install FreeBSD 3.4 on an older machine - which I dont = believe is the problem. I'm doing a custom installation in GUI mode. = The installation is able to setup the partitions and etc ok, but when it = gets to the part where it's trying to extract data from my CD-ROM, the = CD-ROM spins up for a minute and transfers only 1024 bytes and the = screen just hangs. I went to my VTY2 and it shows a line for Generating = /etc/fstab - so I'm asuming my CD-ROM drive mounted okay but the next = line I dont understand CD9660: RockRidge Extension Now I understand the 9660 as in ISO-9660 but thats where it stops. Is = it maybe that the Rom drive I'm using is just really old and doesnt = properly support the media maybe? Its an old either 2 or 4x IDE CD-Rom drive... It did support auto-boot = surprisingly.. Didn't need the boot floppies. Please help.... ------=_NextPart_000_0007_01BFA037.FE1E3060 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi I'm trying to install FreeBSD 3.4 on = an older=20 machine - which I dont believe is the problem.
