Is

shutdown now

the only command needed to properly shutdown a bsd machine?

i find that if i do this and turn off the machine once in single user mode,
it comes back up with incorrect block counts.

What do i need to do to fully prepare the machine to be turned off.

i have been known to use

reboot

and wait until the bios screen comes up, but there's got to be a better way.
