[-- Attachment #1 --] Why after I have built pdksh and bash and then at # I type pdksh or bash when I do echo $SHELL I get /bin/csh? This is all done as root. Even set SHELL=pdksh or whatever I stil get /bin/csh from echo even though the shell appears to change to the newly designated one? Thank you, JSS [-- Attachment #2 --] <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.3103.1000" name=GENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>Why after I have built pdksh and bash and then at # I type pdksh or bash when I do </SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>echo $SHELL I get /bin/csh?</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>This is all done as root.</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>Even set SHELL=pdksh or whatever I stil get /bin/csh from echo even though the shell appears to change to the newly designated one?</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>Thank you,</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN class=873170305-20052001>JSS</SPAN></FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
