ok, i'm not promising anything here, but if i implemented mremap(), would
there be any interest in allowing it into -current?

mremap just allows for moving and resizing mmap'd segments.

btw, i'm planning on implementing it like the linux mremap(), although there
is some talk in the linux man page for it about a BSD version that was never
done... if anyone would rather i try to do that i can look into it if
someone can get me a man page to the BSD proposed version.
