Okay, I'm not very clear on all these different versions of the OS, and my
snooping around the FreeBSD site did not greatly enlighten me.

Which version of the OS is the version that would be distributed, say, on boxed
CDs, like the version I initially bought at the store?  I presume from what I've
read that -CURRENT is more volatile than STABLE; how do both of these relate to
RELEASE (if there is such a thing--my system mentions RELEASE on the
screensaver).
