Hi,

in the process of configuring my ppp to access some internet
provider (I'm using an analog modem), at a certain point of the
configuration, I want to test my network with ping, with these results:

root# ping localhost

PING localhost.singles.it (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes

ping: sendto: Permission denied

ping: sendto: Permission denied

^C

--- localhost.singles.it ping statistics ---

3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

My hostname is ciao.singles.it.

# ping ciao=20

PING ciao.singles.it (10.0.0.2): 56 data bytes

ping: sendto: Permission denied

ping: sendto: Permission denied

^C

--- ciao.singles.it ping statistics ---

4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Somebody can help ?
For your convenience,I include output from
uname-a, the messages of the kernel at boot time=20
(output of the command 'dmesg') and the main configuration file
/etc/rc.conf.

Thank you all
Bruno
