Hi Guys,

As I'm not very well known with TCP/IP I need to ask you this question :) Hope it isn't too stupid ;)

When I do a netsat -s I get a line which says listen que overflows:

        4104 listen queue overflows

How bad is this?

I already tried to solve it by doing this:
sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.recvspace=32768
sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.sendspace=32768

And although the amount decreased considerably, the problem is not completely lost. I am wondering if it is wise to enter bigger values?

Some background info: this server is used to host some sites and some other stuff and is currently doing an average of 5mbit/s traffic. Peak traffic is about 8mbit. Network cards in the machine are both Intel EtherExpress (which is currently used) and the 3Com 3c905C (which we don't use anymore, because there are big problems with this card.). A total of 1500MB of Ram is installed, and the machine is a Dual 866MHZ system (intel p3). Motherboard is an Abit, so VIA chipset.

All information is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Ali
