If have this problem too, but I've diagnosed it a bit differently. It
looks to me like libintl was installed by gettext-0.10.35_1. But
gettext-0.10.40 didn't install a libintl for me (at least as of a few
days ago). So I'm ok on machines that have both .35_1 and .40, but
nothing works on machines where I deleted .35_1.

Do we just have to wait for all phases of the gettext upgrade to be
completed before this should work again?
