Did you try my .fonts.conf file? After I created that, all my font problems disappeared. >=20 > See http://www.endofworlds.com/ and look at the fifth paragraph AFTER > the bulleted list of items. I am unable to get to this site, but I do see this paragraph at http://worldofends.com/. You can see a screenshot of Galeon 2 at http://www.marcuscom.com/galeon2.png. As you can see, it looks fine.=20 The fonts I use in Galeon are: Serif: Bitstream Vera Serif Sans Serif: Verdana (from x11-fonts/webfonts) Monospace: LucidaTypewriter Variable size: 16 Mono size: 12 Minimum size: 12 Of course, I use the .fonts.conf I sent you as well to replace the crummy Helvetica. >=20 > I am seeing this on at least three systems, all running 4.7 or > 4.8-Prerelease. I have two active -STABLE machines running GNOME 2.2 (neither show the problem you're describing), as well as one -STABLE machine running GNOME 1.4 (looks good there, too). I haven't tested my -CURRENT GNOME 2.2 machine. My two GNOME 2.2 machines use Mozilla 1.3b, of course. My GNOME 1.4 machine uses 1.2.1. All have Xft support enabled. >=20 > I think it looks to be a font issue, but I am not at all sure what it > might be. But, if I am doing something wrong, I'm doing it several > places. Try ripping out all fonts except for the standard XFree86 fonts, webfonts, and bitstream-vera. Make sure to run fc-cache -f -v when you're done.
