This should fix the date problem in GnuCash:

mtm 2003/04/04 21:46:44 PST

  FreeBSD src repository

  Modified files:
    lib/libc/stdtime strptime.c=20
  Log:
Zero out the struct tm supplied by the caller. Otherwise,
strange things might happen when garbage values in the struct
get passed in to localtime_r() and family.
