I'm curious of the status of implementation of the thread discussed
here:

Is there be anything I could do to help with this effort? I'd very much
like to see a fully customizable base system, where I can, for example,
replace /bin/ls with the GNU ls -- and I'm willing to put forth some
effort to realize that goal.
