Okay I answered the font question for my self, I tried
gnome-controlcenter (2.8) here at work, I see the fonts button
so I am assuming this will work on 2.10 as well.  Should tried that
before I posted :-)  Would still like help on resolving the 'Ctrl+k'
issue.
