I agree, nor can I fault any of your reasoning as to why.

All I can say is that mistakes were made and learned from, in some
cases for the 2nd or 3rd time (*urk*), and 3.5 will come out with a
very very different and somewhat elongated release schedule as a
result.  Shall we say 30 days?
