Hi,=0A=0AI checked this out to be supported hardware so I'm kind of confuse= d as to why it's not working.=0A=0AI have a:=0A=0Ahttp://www.amazon.com/ASU= S-A54C-AB91-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B0089WLYQ0/ref=3Dsr_1_4?ie=3DUTF8&qid= =3D1359399403&sr=3D8-4&keywords=3DAsus+laptop=0A=0AIt's got an Intel GMA X3= 000 chipset for graphics in it.=A0 I'm told this is supported under 9.1 (an= d previous?)=0A=0A=0ASo, everything should be ok, right?=A0 I've checked an= d this is a supported chipset.=0A=0AAnyhow, I go to Xorg -configure and it = generates the xorg.conf.new file.=0A=0AHowever, in the file (sorry I can't = post anything as the laptop is a friends and she's trying to get dual-booti= ng working and she's using Win7 for right now until I get this resolved - s= he takes the laptop with her as she needs it daily), I noted something very= strange that I have never seen before and I haven't found anywhere in sear= ch engines or archives... (I may have not searched correctly?)=0A=0AWhen I = try to run X -config /root/xorg.conf.new, it just wedges the machine.=A0 I = mean it totally wedges it.=A0 No ctl-alt-F#, no Ctrl-C, no ctl-alt-del.=A0 = It's totally wedged and only a power cycle clears it. =0A=0A=0AThe xorg.con= f file has an entry for two different adapters and two monitors.=A0 pciconf= -lv shows me that the vga is indeed located at PCI0:0:2:0.=0A=0AHowever, i= n the file there is a device located at that location for intel AND another= one for VESA.=A0 ?????=0A=0AThere's no other card or device connected to t= his laptop.=0A=0AThe next weird-ism is the fact it detects two monitors, mo= nitor0 and monitor1. ?????=0A=0AI tried editing out the top of the file whe= re it references the ServerLayout and shows Screen0 and Screen1 and removed= Screen1 that doesn't exist.=A0=A0=A0 I removed the corresponding section f= or that Screen nearer the bottom.=A0 I've removed the VESA entry in the gra= phics device area and wrote these all out.=A0 It fixes nothing and the mach= ine again hangs hard.=0A=0ANow, does this have to do with the new KMS?=A0 D= id I miss something about a work around on this?=A0 I would think someone w= ould have posted about a hard hang.=0A=0AThank you!=0A=0AP.=0A From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jan 29 00:36:16 2013 Return-Path: <owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG> Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.FreeBSD.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A0C4EE52 for <freebsd-x11@freebsd.org>;
