I'm feeling particularly dense right now, so I'm asking for help. I just got a new BSI laptop and an ActionTec DataLink V.90 modem, and I can't seem to make it work. Are there step-by-step instructions anywhere? This is the first time I've tried to use a pc-card (I've never felt the urge for a laptop before), and I'm not familiar enough with them to figure out where I'm going wrong. I've disabled the infra-red port since I can't (currently) use it under FreeBSD, and I believe I've got everything configured appropriately (I've copied /etc/pccard.conf.sample to /etc/pccard.conf, since this modem is listed), and pccardd identifies the modem card whenever I reboot. However, attempting to use it (via kermit, on /dev/cuaa1) seems to disable my keyboard. I can switch virtual terminals, but nothing I type ever appears anywhere. I've removed (per the comments at the beginning of pccard.conf.sample) the entry for irq 5. Am I just doing something stupid, or should I be installing PAO? Any help (including pointers to documentation) would be greatly appreciated. If it's something more than my ignorance, I'll be happy to post configuration files/dmesg output on request.
